The midseason window is now almost at its halfway stage but we are yet to see too many major moves as clubs grapple with the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Reports today claim that one of the big moves may not involve any players at all, with suggestions Avram Grant could make a shock return to Stamford Bridge to assist Frank Lampard, while Fikayo Tomori is being linked with a loan move to AC Milan.
Arsenal’s business will depend heavily on any outgoings and with Sead Kolasinac having departed on loan already, all eyes are on his close friend Mesut Ozil, who looks increasingly likely to join Fenerbahce. Mikel Arteta has also said the club will look to address their goalkeeping situation this month.
Meanwhile, on the continent, Real Madrid are said to be planning a mass clearout in order to free up funds to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer, while the Frenchman’s current club, PSG, are being linked with a move for Sergio Aguero.
Elsewhere, West Ham’s efforts to bring in a replacement for Sebastian Haller look set to intensify, but England U21 striker Eddie Nketiah no longer looks an option, with Arteta having confirmed the forward will stay at at Arsenal this month.

Wolves a no-go for Giroud
Olivier Giroud may well be on the move this month in a bid to get more first-team football ahead of this summer’s Euros. However, the Mirror reports that Wolves will be a no-go for the Chelsea striker with the midlands club telling Nuno he has no money to spend this month.
Spurs winger Clarke set for Stoke loan
Standard Sport’s Dan Kilatrick understands that Stoke are set to complete the signing of Tottenham winger Jack Clarke on loan until the end of the season in the next 24 hours.
Diallo’s first day at Old Trafford
Amad Diallo has been officially unveiled as a Manchester United player today after finally securing his move from Atalanta.
The deal – originally agreed on deadline day of the summer window – was complicated by work permit issues, though Diallo is now cleared to play for the Premier League leaders and has taken the number 19 shirt – previously work by Marcus Rashford.
Sergio Ramos to Manchester?
Real Madrid legend has used interest from Manchester United in the past to engineer a better deal at the Bernabeu – but could a genuine move be in the offing?
Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that United could potentially offer Ramos a two-year contract on the same figures Real would be offering their talismanic defender – and the veteran may well be tempted to try his hand at Premier League football.
United are said to have moved ahead of Man City should Ramos actually decide to leave the Spanish capital, so no doubt we’ll hear move about this one soon enough.
Jovic set for Frankfurt return
Luka Jovic has not had a good time of it at Real Madrid, and his spell in Spain could be coming to an end – at least temporarily.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Jovic is set to rejoin Eintracht Frankfurt on loan until the end of the season. Intriguingly, Romano also suggests that the striker was offered to Manchester United months ago – but they turned down the deal and opted for Edinson Cavani instead,
Done deal! Fosu-Mensah leaves Man United
Manchester United have cofirmed that Timothy Fosu-Mensah has signed for Bayer Leverkusen.
The 23-year-old had six months remaining on his current deal and had rejected an extension, instead opting to look for first-team football elsewhere. The fee – thought to be around £1.5m – won’t be enough to sign a replacement, but Fosu-Mensah’s exit leaves a gap that United have been looking to fill with a more attacking alternative to Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back.
Hammers told to up Milik bid
Italian station Radio Kiss Kiss say West Ham will need to up their bid if they are to beat Marseille to the signing of Arkadiusz Milik.
Reports suggested the Hammers have made a £7m offer for the Polish forward, as they look to replace Sebastian Haller, who joined Ajax earlier this month.
Slimani closing on Lyon move
Leicester forward Islam Slimani is undergoing a medical at Lyon ahead of his transfer, which will pave the way for Moussa Demebele’s move to Atletico Madrid.
The Foxes striker is out of contract at the end of the season and is expected to join the Ligue 1 club in a cut-price deal.
Representatives from both clubs have all-but confirmed that Demebele is on his way to the Wanda Metropolitano as a replacement for Diego Costa, who had his contract terminated earlier this month.
Koulibaly ‘would cost £100m this month’
Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis says the only way defender Kalidou Koulibaly will leave the club this month is if a club stump up £100m.
The 29-year-old has been heavily linked with Premier League clubs for what feels like an eternity but has so far stayed loyal to the Serie A side.
TalkSport presenter Jim White said on the radio station this morning that he had spoken to De Laurentiis, who slapped the price tag on the centre-back.
No striker move for Wolves
The Mirror say that Wolves will not pursue their interest in either Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud or Liverpool’s Divock Origi this month.
The Midlands club have struggled for goals since star forward Raul Jimenez suffered a fractured skull in last year’s clash with Arsenal, and have recalled Italian striker Patrick Cutorne from his loan spell at Fiorentina.
However, the report claims that Nuno Espirito Santo has been told by the club hierarchy that he has no money to spend this month.
